
Three Sri Lankan nationals were arrested in the early hours of today (25) by officers of the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau while attempting to exit Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, with a large stock of narcotics.
A search of five pieces of luggage uncovered 10.394 kg of Kush and 1.912 kg of Hashish. Police said the seized drugs have an estimated street value of approximately Rs. 133.94 million.
The suspects arrived from Muscat, Oman, around 4.00 a.m. today. Two of the arrested individuals are 29-year-old residents of Naththandiya, identified as a businessman and a mason, while the third is a 32-year-old businessman from Grandpass.
The suspects and the narcotics have been handed over to the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations. (NewsWire)
