Magistrate and High Courts to adopt evidence recording App

A new app is set to be introduced to record evidence during open court hearings, with the aim of reducing delays in Sri Lanka’s judicial process, it was reported.

According to state media, Silumina, officials said the app will use voice‑typing technology to accurately transcribe all testimony.

It has been designed to separately identify each witness’s voice, ensuring that when a witness testifies again, no confusion arises.

The move comes as delays in obtaining case reports and legal notes have long been a serious issue, contributing to repeated postponements of trials.

Authorities say the new app will be rolled out in Magistrate Courts and High Courts to minimize such delays and improve efficiency. (Newswire)
