Jobs : Canada seeks skilled foreign workers across key sectors

March 26, 2026 at 8:57 PM

Canada has announced it is seeking skilled professionals across multiple sectors under its Express Entry category-based immigration system.

The Canadian government said invitations will be issued to candidates with specific skills and experience to address labour shortages and support economic growth.

The targeted categories include medical doctors, researchers and senior managers with Canadian work experience, as well as candidates with French-language proficiency.

Canada is also prioritising professionals in health care and social services, trades, education, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) occupations.

In addition, professionals in transport-related occupations are also being targeted under the latest category-based invitation rounds.

The category-based selection system allows Canada to invite candidates with specific skills needed in the labour market, rather than relying solely on overall immigration scores.

Canadian authorities said the move is aimed at addressing workforce shortages in critical sectors while strengthening economic growth and public services.

Further details on Express Entry category-based invitation rounds have been published by Canadian immigration authorities.
