Colombo inflation increases to 2.2% in March

The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, increased to 2.2% in March 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The department states that the figure reports an increase in comparison to the 1.6% recorded in February 2026.

Food inflation also increased to 0.7% in March 2026 from the 0.2% recorded in February 2026. 

Non-food inflation also reported an increase to 2.9% in March, compared to the 2.3% reported in February.
