The Mayor of Colombo, Vraîe Cally Balthazaar, says the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has extended its relief work to Kolonnawa.

Vraîe Cally Balthazaar said that as the areas most affected by Ditwah in Colombo city are nearing normalcy, the CMC team continues working in Kolonnawa too.

“The devastation in our neighbouring city is vast, affecting 42 of the 46 GN divisions. Today is Day 5 for us. Our teams, machinery, our council members, everyone has been doing their part to help in the clean-up operation,” she said in a statement.

Vraîe Cally Balthazaar further said that it is likely that the CMC will be supporting them for many more weeks to come, along with the other local government councils from the Colombo district.

“This is a massive collective effort. House by house, street by street, ward by ward, we will rebuild,” she added. (Newswire)
