OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei declined to hold hands during a group photo at the India AI Impact Summit on Thursday (Feb. 19), drawing attention as other leaders on stage linked arms for the ceremonial image.
The summit, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focused on promoting a shared and inclusive approach to artificial intelligence. Altman and Amodei shared the dais with Modi and other technology leaders, including Google’s Sundar Pichai.
While most participants joined hands in a symbolic display of unity, Altman and Amodei stood side by side without taking part in the gesture.
The moment was widely noted in technology circles, amid ongoing competition between OpenAI and Anthropic in the global AI sector. (Newswire)
