Special dengue eradication program launched in high‑risk areas

The National Dengue Control Unit has announced that a special dengue eradication program targeting high‑risk zones commenced today (06). 

Consultant Specialist at the Unit, Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, said 43 Medical Officer of Health divisions have been identified as high‑risk areas, with the spread of dengue reported to be rising across six districts.

According to official figures, 26,071 dengue patients have been recorded so far this year, while 13 deaths have also been reported.

Dr. Prashila Samaraweera urged the public to maintain clean surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding, stressing that community vigilance is crucial to curb the spread of the disease. (Newswire)
