The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has requested the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to launch an urgent probe into the circulation of forged documents and fake social media posts aimed at tarnishing the union’s image.
In a letter to the CID, GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa stated that a fake letter bearing a forged e-signature and false Facebook posts had been published regarding the recent arrest of a Consultant Neurosurgeon by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
He stressed that the GMOA, as a trade union, does not interfere in disciplinary or legal matters and condemned the deliberate spread of misinformation by individuals with “vested interests and sinister agendas.”
The GMOA called for a full investigation to identify those responsible and prevent such incidents in the future. (Newswire)
