The Irrigation Department has issued a flood warning for several low-lying areas in the Aththanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya valleys following heavy rainfall in most catchment areas as of 5.00 a.m. today.
The warning applies to areas within the Divisional Secretariat divisions of Diwulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalla, Mahara, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela, Katana and Wattala over the next 48 hours.
The department said some roads in low-lying areas could be inundated and urged residents and motorists to remain vigilant. Disaster Management Authorities have also been requested to take necessary precautions. (NewsWire)
