
Several spells of showers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya and Matale districts, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely after 2:00 p.m. in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts. Rainfall exceeding 50 mm is possible in some of these areas, the Department added.
Misty conditions are expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle, Matara, and Badulla districts.
The public is advised to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Showers will occur in sea areas off the coast from Pottuvil to Trincomalee via Batticaloa. Isolated showers or thundershowers may develop in other coastal areas during the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly at 25–35 km/h. Wind speeds may reach 45–50 km/h at times in sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. (Newswire)
