The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Sabaragamuwa, Southern provinces and Colombo, Kalutara districts today.
Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, red alerts have been issued to 07 districts and amber alerts have been issued to 05 districts.
As thunderstorms accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur in these districts, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
