Splitting in public spaces shall be a punishable offence with fine as per the new lockdown guideline issued by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in India.

There should be a strict ban on sale of liquor, gutka, tobacco and the “spitting should be strictly prohibited” during the new lockdown period extended up to May 3.

Spitting in public is an offence under municipal laws in various Indian cities, but it is hardly taken seriously by the people in the country.
