The 31st Covid 19 infected case in South Korea identified as Patient 31 was the reason for South Korea to experience a spike in numbers of infected patients.

This 61-year old lady had attended a mass religious gathering of 9000 attendees during the subsistence of the epidemic, while she was the key in spreading the virus among 3000 of the attendees.

Similarly, Sri Lanka’s sudden and recent spike in number of Covid-19 infected patients is attributed to patient 206.

According to the reports, patient 206 is a drug addict who was found while he was attempting to steal from a house in Suduwella area on the 05th of April.

The residents of the village caught him red-handed and handed over to the police, upon which it was found that he was Covid-19 infected.

DIG Ajith Rohana explained the impact he had made at a live TV show in the morning.

Accordingly, the entire area of Suduwella was isolated, as there was a risk of infection for those who caught the man and officers of Pamunugama Police.

It is believed that many of the Navy soldiers identified later with the infection contracted the virus during relief efforts at Suduwella area.

Since the Naval officers were stationed at Welisara Navy Camp, it is believed that the virus must’ve spread through them to other officers at Welisara Navy Camp.

DIG Ajith Rohana said that due to one person who did not conform to social responsibility, he became the patient 206 and became the turning point in Covid-19 spread too in Sri Lanka
