Fundamental Rights (FR) petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an order invalidating the Extraordinary Gazette notification declaring the General Election on June 20.
Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya, its members Nalin Abeysekara and Prof. Rathnajeevan Hoole, Secretary to the President P.B. Jayasundara, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe and the Attorney General have been named as the respondents of the petition.
Petition has been filed by lawyer Charitha Guneratne where he requests the court to issue following orders in respect to the General Election 2020.
