Legal action to be taken against 22 former ministers & MPs for not handing over official residences

The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government and Provincial Councils is taking measures to sue 22 former  ministers & MPs who deliberately avoid handing their official residences despite the Government’s written notices.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena confirmed that legal action will be taken against these former ministers & MPs for not handing over their official residences.

Most of these former Ministers lost their Ministerial positions after the Presidential Election held last November. Some of them in 2018.

These former minister have been instructed to hand over their official residences on or before the 20th of February this year as the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers of the incumbent Government are to be given these official residences.

These former MPs are from UNP/SJB, SLFP/SLPP, TNA & SLMC.

According to the Ceylon Today newspaper following 22 former ministers & MPs are yet to hand over their official residences.
