Rs. 15 billion loan from China to develop 105 KMs of roads in Sri Lanka.

Cabinet approval has been granted to borrow Rs. 15 billion from China Development Bank to develop 105 kilometres of roads in Sri Lanka.

Cabinet co-spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana addressing the weekly cabinet briefing press conference told reporters that approval had been given to raise to money to develop 10 roads in different parts of the country.

Last week Sunday Times newspaper reported that the Highway Ministry and the Road Development Authority (RDA) received Cabinet approval to borrow more than Rs 31.7 billion from foreign or domestic sources to kick start the stalled construction of the first section of Central Expressway (CEP I).
