Election Commission has issued an order to the Secretary to the Ministry of Helath, suspending the transfer of Director of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital (KTH) Dr. Sarath Weerabandara.
He was transferred to the Health Ministry a few days ago, on account of serious allegations levelled against him by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) and the workers of KTH.
Director General of the Election Commission Mr. Saman Sri Ratnayake stated that the transfer order was reversed because it was given in violation of prevailing election laws.
“When the Ministry of Health made this transfer order, they had not informed the Public Service Commission prior to issuing such order and that is where election laws were violated”, he pointed out.
