Woman arrested with weapons connected to largest haul recovered from underworld gang in Homagama

A woman has been arrested in connection to the suspect who was arrested in June with the largest haul of firearms to ever be recovered from an underworld gang in Sri Lanka.

The Police Special Task Force (STF) attached to the Sri Jayawardenapura Police seized 7 hand grenades, 01 repeater shotgun, 4 rounds of ammunition for the shotgun, and 04 other types of ammunition during a raid on the woman’s house in the Pitipana- North area in Homagama.

The raid was conducted based on information from the National Intelligence Unit that the woman was involved in an affair with the suspect who was arrested in Homagama on 29 June.

The cache of weapons belonging to an underworld gang connected to an imprisoned drug convict was seized during the raid conducted on the suspect’s house in the Pitipana area in Homagama.

The STF had received information on a stock of weapons belonging to the infamous drug lord ‘Gagana’ who is currently imprisoned.
Based on the tip-off, the STF had launched a special operation in the Pitipana area and seized 12 T- 56 firearms from the house of the suspect, who was identified as an associate of imprisoned drug convict ‘Gagana’. (Newswire)
