The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the construction of the Ruwanpura Expressway to commence before the end of this year.
The Expressway is 76 KM in distance and will extend towards Kahathuduwa, Ingiriya, Ratnapura and Pelmadulla.
The former Government had entered into an agreement with the International Organization for the construction of the expressway, but the Cabinet of Ministers had cancelled the agreement due to high costs.
The Cabinet has granted approval for the expressway to be built under the finances provided by State Banks and by local construction workers.
The Cabinet has also advised for the stretch between Kahathuduwa and Ingiriya to be completed before the end of this year. (Newswire)
