Police solve Piliyandala hotel murder mystery, 2 suspects arrested

Two suspects have been arrested on suspicion in connection to the murder of the owner of a hotel in the Gurugammana area in Piliyandala, Kesbewa.

The two men were arrested following investigations conducted by the Mirihana Special Crime Unit.

The owner of the hotel in Piliyandala was reportedly murdered by an unknown group on 7 July.

The Police said the 50-year-old victim had been found murdered on his bed at the hotel, while his wife who was beside him had also been seriously injured.

The suspects were arrested by officials from the Mirihana Special Crime Unit, while the weapon used in the murder had also been seized.

The Police further said 34 pounds of gold and 13 gemstones were also seized from the possession of the suspects.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that one suspect had served as an employee at the hotel in Piliyandala. (Newswire)
