Former Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe will attend future meetings on the coronavirus pandemic held by the Health Ministry.
Addressing Parliament today, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that Jasinghe was removed as the Health Services Director General and was promoted as the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment.
Despite the change in designation, Dr. Anil Jasinghe will be attending future meetings on the coronavirus held by the Health Ministry, she added.
Minister Wanniarachchi’s comments come in response to questions raised on Jasinghe’s change of designation.
Commenting on the removal of Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara from the post of Health Ministry spokesperson, Minister Wanniarachchi said that the latter had agreed to step down following the appointment of a new Health Ministry Director General.
She clarified that Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara’s appointment as the Health Ministry spokesperson was made on a temporary basis. (NewsWire)
