2 South African players in the squad to play Sri Lanka test positive for Covid

Cricket South Africa confirms that two members of the South Africa test team have returned positive COVID-19 results following their scheduled first round of testing ahead of the team’s entry into the Bio-Secure Environment for the Test series against Sri Lanka.

“The players will no longer form part of the Test team and will observe the Covid-19 protocols, including isolating with immediate effect” – CSA release said.

Meanwhile Three players have been added to South Africa’s squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka, which starts in Centurion on December 26.

Batsman Raynard van Tonder, fast bowler Lutho Sipamla and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius are the extra players. They will be part of what is now a 19-man squad, which is due to assemble in Pretoria on Saturday.

Sri Lanka team will reach South Africa tonight and will play the first warm-up game on the 20th. (NewsWire)
