Following massive social media outrage after pictures emerged of iconic Mirissa coconut tree hill premises under construction, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to intervene in the matter according to Weligama Urban Council Mayor Rehan Jayawickreme.
“This is a private land and as soon as we got to know about it I took steps to inform the PM about this through Rohitha Rajapaksa. Rohitha immediately informed the PM and he will look into this and has already informed coast conservation department to visit the land and take immediate steps to rectify the issue” Rehan Jayawickreme told NewsWire.
