Sri Lanka will most likely commence the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines by the beginning of March, 2021.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the analysis on preliminary requirements with regard to the vaccines has been completed.

As a result, the vaccine could be brought down by the end of February or beginning of March 2021, he said.

Minister Rambukwella said a system could be introduced by March for the vaccination process to commence in Sri Lanka.

Stating that discussions are underway with four Covid vaccine manufacturers at present, he said the Committee appointed to study the matter is currently working on certain issues faced in acquiring the vaccines.

Minister Rambukwella said the Committee is focused on finalizing the suitable vaccine for Sri Lanka and logistical issues faced in this regard. (NewsWire)
