Easter Sunday Attack : 10 employees of copper factory owned by bomber released

10 suspects, who were employed in the Wellampitiya copper factory owned by Easter Sunday Suicide bomber Mohamed Inshaf Ibrahim who was one of the Easter Sunday suicide bombers, were released yesterday.

The suspects were released by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya on the instructions of the Attorney General (AG) yesterday (19).

The Anti-Terrorism and Investigation Division had requested the Court to release the suspects in accordance with the AG’s instructions that no further legal action would be taken against them.

Taking into consideration the request, Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the suspects to be released and concluded the case.

The Court further ordered Prison officials to release the ninth and tenth suspects in the case, who were imprisoned until today.

The suspects are employees of the suicide bomber who targeted the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo on Easter Sunday in 2019.

Investigations by the Wellampitiya Police had found that the suspects had roamed around the Punchikawatte area on Easter Sunday and were in possession of more than one SIM card.

Further investigations by the Anti-Terrorism and Investigation Division had led to the suspects being remanded in connection to the Easter Sunday terror attacks. (NewsWire)
