In a shocking turn of events, several Facebook users were logged out of the app on Friday evening. Many users reported that they had to enter their login credentials again to regain access to their accounts. However, it only happened with iPhone users, Android users did not complain of anything like that.

Facebook users took to Twitter to report that they were all of a sudden logged out of their accounts. Most users had to log in again but some of them had to face because the two-factor authentication (2FA) faced failed sessions. I was logged out of my Facebook account too when I woke up today morning. I had to enter my password and username to regain access to my Facebook account.

A Facebook user who was logged out of the app wrote on Twitter,“@facebookapp I was booted off randomly and now when I go to recover my account and password to log back the email (or phone number) I have associated with it magically does not match any accounts on file. I. NEED. ANSWERS. #facebookdown.”

Another user wrote, “Facebook signed me out and wanted me to log in again…Have anyone else experience this?.” A lot of users had issue retrieving their passwords as the SMS code and password reset mail arrived late for many users.

From what it looks like, iPhone users not just in the United States across the globe were logged out of their Facebook accounts.

Acknowledging the issue, a Facebook spokesperson told Engadget, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. We’re looking into reports that some people are currently having to login again to access their Facebook accounts. We believe this was due to a configuration change and we’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.” (IndiaToday)
