Students in Vavuniya have sung the National Anthem in both the Sinhala and Tamil languages to commemorate the 73rd Independence Day which was marked yesterday.
According to the Virakesari, setting an example of co-existence, Tamil speaking students had sung the National Anthem in the Sinhala language, while the Sinhala speaking students had sung it in the Tamil language.
The event was held under the patronage of the Vavuniya District Secretary Saman Bandulasena, while many other Parliamentarians and officials representing the district also participated in the ceremony. (NewsWire)
