A Police Sub- Inspector (SI) has been killed after a van rammed into a group of officers attached to the Police Emergency Unit in Rajagiriya today.
Police Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said a team from the Police Emergency Unit headed by the SI were inspecting a lorry when the vehicle rammed into them.
The accident had occurred near the Ayurveda Junction, on Parliament Road in Welikada at 4.30am.
The 52- year-old SI and the assistant of the lorry have been killed in the accident.
The driver of the van, who is a resident of Thalawathugoda has been arrested by the Welikada Police.
The Welikada Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
