Catholic schools to close on April 21st

All Catholic Schools governed by the Catholic Church will be closed on Wednesday, the 21st of April.

The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said it has been decided to grant leave to the Catholic schools in view of the 2nd anniversary of the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.

He further requested all Sri Lankans to observe 02 minutes silence at 8.45 am on the 21st of April to commemorate those who died in the Easter Sunday attacks. Meanwhile, maximum security is to be provided for churches on 21st April during the 2nd anniversary of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

Police Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said that several churches are expected to hold special services on Wednesday (21) to commemorate the victims of the Easter attacks.

He said that Police Headquarters has informed the respective Police stations to provide special security for the churches during the service. (NewsWire)
