A tense situation has been reported after a protest was launched in the Haggala area blocking the Nuwara Eliya- Badulla main road.
The protest is being staged by residents of Haggala over a road accident.
One pedestrian had been killed and another had been injured after a car had collided with them today.
The protesters have claimed that despite requesting authorities to enforce a speed limit and speed breakers, they have not done so, resulting in a significant increase in accidents in the area.
Heavy traffic has been reported along the Nuwara Eliya- Badulla main road due to the ongoing protest. (NewsWire)
