A woman and her mother have been arrested for beating up a 07-year-old child.
The mother and grandmother of the boy were arrested by the Pallewala Police.
They were arrested after investigations were launched into the video footage of the assault which was handed over to the District Secretary of the area.
Investigations have revealed that the family, which consists of four children, reside in the Ganegoda area.
The suspects had beaten up one child after he had reportedly refused to worship his grandmother after returning home from a visit to the temple.
Three of the children, aged 16, 9 and 7, had visited the temple, while another 13-year-old daughter had remained at home and had captured the incident on video.
The Pallewala Police said a statement had been recorded from the injured child, while he will be produced for a medical examination today. (NewsWire)
