The Police have called on the public in areas isolated due to the coronavirus pandemic to remain at home.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said outsiders have been prohibited from entering areas placed in isolation.

He said only health officials, the Police, and essential services workers will be allowed to enter and exit isolated areas.

The residents of isolated areas will only be permitted to leave in the event of an emergency to reach the hospital, DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The Police Spokesman further said all Police officers who are residents of isolated areas have been instructed to remain home.

He said the officers have been requested not to report to work and to return to duty once the isolation imposed in their area of residence is lifted.

Several areas in Sri Lanka have been placed in isolation due to an increase in Covid cases following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season. (NewsWire)
