Three more Service Areas are to be constructed on the Southern Expressway in the near future, the Road Development Authority (RDA) said.
Chairman of the RDA C.P.K. Athaluwage said inspections have commenced to find suitable areas for this purpose.
Only one Service Area is available on the Southern Expressway at present, which is located near the Welipenna interchange.
It has been observed that one Service Area is insufficient following the extension of the expressway, he said.
The RDA Chairman further said that one Service Area will be constructed on the stretch of road between Matara to Mattala.
He added that multiple requests have been made by drivers and passengers to construct more Service Areas on the Southern Expressway. (NewsWire)
