A Covid infected 14-year-old school student is reported to have sat for the London Ordinary Level Examination at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, in Colombo.

According to Lankadeepa newspaper, the Public Health Inspector (PHI) in charge of Kahathuduwa has said legal action will be filed under the Quarantine Law against the uncle of the student who had brought the child for the examination.

The PHI officer said it was an offence for the child to have attended the examination, after it was confirmed that he along with his parents and sister had contracted the virus.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the child residing in Mattegoda, had been brought for the examination by his uncle, a resident of Waskaduwa, on a motorcycle.

The student is reported to have sat for the examination and thereafter had left home.
The incident had been uncovered after another student who had attended the examination had informed his parents that the infected student had sat for the exam.

However, the Cambridge Assessment International Education has suspended the examination from last friday, until further notice due to the prevalent coronavirus situation in the country. (NewsWire)
