The Meteorology Department has issued an advisory for heavy rains over the next 24-hours ending at 10 am tomorrow (14).

Issuing a statement, the Department said the showery condition over the South-Western and North-Western parts of the island is likely to enhance during this period.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times at the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western, Southern and North-Western Provinces.

Heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Met Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the evening or night.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms. (NewsWire)
