Special quarantine operations were conducted by the Police and health authorities in the Western Province (WP) yesterday as well.

The Police said 380 places frequented by the public, including gymnasiums, indoor sports centres, and wine stores were inspected during this period.

Twenty-five people have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations, while another 1597 were warned by the Police.

Meanwhile, 229 passengers in 145 vehicles were turned away after attempting to cross into the Western Province yesterday.

The Police said the suspects had attempted to cross borders at a time when an inter-province travel restriction had been enforced in a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

They said a total of 1921 vehicles were inspected at 14 roadblocks set up at entry and exit points of the Western Province.

The Police said 3846 passengers had also been inspected during this period. (NewsWire)
