Two deaths have been reported following the inclement weather conditions experienced in Sri Lanka.

One person has been reported dead after being buried in an earth slip in the Gasnewa area in Kegalle.

The Disaster Management Centre said an earth slip has also occurred in the bypass road in Awissawella.

People traveling from Colombo to Ratnapura have been urged to use the main road via the Avissawella bus depot.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old male has drowned in the Gin Ganga in the Aluthwatta area in Udugama.

According to reports, the man is said to have been swept away by a strong current while bathing in the river.

The Irrigation Department has also issued flood warnings due to the rise in the water levels of several rivers.

The Department said due to heavy rains, four sluice gates of the Deduru-Oya and two sluice gates of the Kukule Ganga have been opened. (NewsWire)
