Eco-friendly cardboard coffins introduced for Covid victims

The Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia Municipal Council (MC) has created a coffin made out of cardboard to place the bodies of Covid victims.

SLPP Councillor Priyantha Sahabandu from the council said the coffins are being created out of material made by recycling discarded paper and cardboard.

He pointed out that this initiative will prevent the felling of trees and destruction caused to the environment.

Priyantha Sahabandu further said a coffin could be purchased for Rs. 10,000. (NewsWire)
