Electricity and water supply have been disrupted in several areas due to the inclement weather currently experienced in Sri Lanka.

The Ministry of Power said nearly 44,000 consumers have been affected by the disruption of the electricity supply.

Water supply too has been disrupted in several parts of the country due to the power failure.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said water supply has been disrupted in Kolonnawa, Moragasmulla, Rajagiriya main road, and all by roads from Rajagiriya to Nawala.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has warned that minor floods may occur due to the heavy rains experienced in several areas.

The DMC said minor floods may occur in the Ingiriya, Horana, Agalawatte, and surrounding areas due to the rising water levels of the Kalu River.

The Irrigation Department said the sluice gates of a number of rivers have been opened due to the heavy rains experienced in the country.

Six sluice gates of the Thabbowa reservoir in Puttalam and two sluice gates of the Deduru Oya Reservoir in Kurunegala have been opened. People living in low-lying areas have been requested to remain vigilant of the rising water levels, it said.

Furthermore, the Disaster Management Centre said a landslide has occurred in the Elle Devalaya area in Ratnapura.

Three people have been reported missing following the landslide that had occurred due to heavy rains experienced in the area.
