Three Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel have been arrested for attempting to extort Rs. 100,000 from two passengers of a three-wheeler in the Kalkudah area in Kalpitiya.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said investigations were launched after the Kalpitiya Police had received reports of an attempted robbery.
The victims had filed a complaint with the Police stating that three people had arrived in a Bolero cab and had attempted to extort Rs. 100,000.
The Kalpitiya Police yesterday arrested the three suspects, who have been identified as SLAF officers deployed to the Palaviya area.
The suspects will be produced in court today for an identification parade, while the Kalpitiya Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
