A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Mount Lavinia for using a teenage girl for sex trafficking.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the man had sold a 15-year-old girl for cash to various individuals via the internet.
Investigations have revealed that the man had rented an apartment in Mount Lavinia and had sold the teenager to various people on a daily basis.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect had acquired the girl from her mother, who is a resident of Delgoda, while the Police have recorded a statement from the woman in this regard.
The suspect was produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court yesterday and has been remanded.
The Police Spokesman said investigations have revealed that the suspect had sold the girl to several individuals over the last 3-months.
DIG Ajith Rohana said investigations are underway to identify those who had dealt with the suspect during this period. (NewsWire)
