A 25-year-old man has been arrested for pouring beer into the mouth of a 04-year-old boy in Peliyagoda.
The Police had launched an investigation after video footage of the incident had been widely circulated on social media yesterday.
Preliminary investigations had revealed that the suspect had given beer to the child while at a house in Nuge Road in Peliyagoda in the company of several other people.
A special team from the Peliyagoda Police had visited the residence of the suspect after which he had been arrested.
The Police said the suspect will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said it is an offence to provide alcohol or cigarettes to children below the age of 18. (NewsWire)
