The fuel price hike was a decision taken by the Government including the President and Prime Minister, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said.
Responding to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s statement blaming him for the fuel price hike, the Minister said that the price was increased after approval from Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“The Prime Minister as the Finance Minister signed the document,” Minister said.
The Minister further said that the decision to increase the price was taken by the Cabinet sub committee on cost of living headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Minister Gammanpila dismissed the claims by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Party General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam and said the letter only challenges the President and the Prime Minister.
