State Minister Dr Nalaka Godahewa has defended the decision to provide luxury vehicles to Ministers, stating that Ministers do not always have as many luxury vehicles as some may presume.

State Minister Godahewa told reporters that despite being entitled to three official vehicles, he was currently using one vehicle provided by the Government and two other private vehicles for official duties.

Pointing out that he has to travel nearly 100 km per day, he said apart from his one official vehicle, the two other private vehicles are under repair at the garage.

Dr. Nalaka Godahewa further said that a newly appointed Minister usually receives old vehicles, sometimes more than 10 years old, adding that “No one knows the real situation of Ministers.”

He called on the public, therefore, not to look at Ministers with anger and hatred with regard to the importation of luxury vehicles. (NewsWire)
