The Health Ministry has issued updated health guidelines on COVID-19 to be effective in line with the lifting of the islandwide travel restriction from today.

Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena said regulation five of the guidelines has been revised effective for the Western Province.

The regulation consists of limitations on workplace capacity for Government, semi-Government, and private institutions, and public transportation.

Government institutions classified as essential services can only permit employees and officials based on the workplace capacity outlined in the health guideline.

Government, semi-Government, and private institutions classified as non-essential services will be allowed to convene their employees and officials for a maximum of two days per week.

These employees and officials will be permitted to report to work only if they are unable to carry out their duties from their homes, while office transport should be provided for their commute.

Public transportation in the Western Province will be provided only for employees of essential services.

Private institutions have been advised to conduct business activities under the work from home concept as much as possible during this period. (NewsWire)
