Another Sri Lanka cricket team coaching staff has tested positive for COVID-19 upon the team’s return to Sri Lanka after completing the England tour.

According to SLC sources, Team analyst G.T. Niroshan has tested positive.

This is the second staff member to test positive, after batting coach Grant Flower had tested positive upon the team’s return to the country on Tuesday (06).

According to sources, all the Sri Lankan cricketers and other staff members who participated in the recently concluded England tour have tested negative for COVID-19.

The sources said, the test results of all cricketers and other staff who underwent PCR tests yesterday have returned negative.

With the latest development, all the cricketers who returned from England will be placed in strict quarantine until Sunday, after which they will be subjected to another PCR test.

Based on the results, a decision will be taken on whether or not the players can participate in Tuesday’s match against India, in the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is also preparing an alternative Sri Lanka team to face India, in the event the cricketers who returned from England are unable to participate in the ODI series.

The alternative team consists of cricketers who did not participate in the tour of England and have already been placed in a separate bio-bubble.

The SLC will decide on whether to play the ODI series against India, which starts on Tuesday (13), with an alternative team, or the players who recently returned from England. (NewsWire)
