The Chairman of the Chilaw Urban Council (UC) has been arrested for assaulting two youths.
The Police said Chilaw UC Chairman Thushan Abeysekera has been arrested along with another suspect.
They were arrested in connection to an incident that had occurred at the Sedawatta area in Chilaw at 8.45 pm yesterday.
The Police said the two youth who are reported to have been assaulted by the suspects have been admitted to the Chilaw Hospital.
The Chilaw Police has launched investigations into the incident, while the two suspects will be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court today. (NewsWire)
