Notorious female drug peddler ‘Kudu Noni’ has been arrested for distributing drugs via a Colombo-based courier service.

The Police said a tip-off had been received 03-days ago on a courier company in Colombo having accepted a parcel to be delivered to a resident in Anuradhapura.

The Police Anti-Narcotics Unit had inspected the parcel and had found that it contained a doll as a gift which was to be couriered to a man in Anuradhapura. Further, inspections had revealed that narcotics had been concealed inside the doll.

Further investigations into the sender of the parcel had revealed that it was a 39-year-old female drug peddler, who was a resident of Slave Island.

However, the woman is said to be residing in a house in Kaduwela, which was raided by the Police, during which they had seized 56 packets of heroin.

The woman was arrested following the raid, while the receiver of the parcel has also been arrested in Anuradhapura.

The Police said the female drug peddler has been produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court and has been ordered to be detained for interrogations.

They further said a new trend has emerged where drugs are being distributed via courier services by being concealed in various items as gifts for the receiver. (NewsWire)
