Girl working at MP Bathiudeen’s house dies of burn injuries

A 16-year-old girl employed at Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence in Colombo has died due to severe burn injuries. 

The Police said the girl was employed as a domestic worker at the former Minister’s residence on Bauddhaloka Mawatha in Colombo 07.

She was reportedly admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with severe burn injuries on 3rd July but had died while receiving treatment yesterday.

The Police said after presenting facts to the court on the incident, the Magisterial inquiry and the postmortem examination were conducted last evening. 

The report of the postmortem is set to be presented to the court, while the Borella Police is conducting further investigations into the death.

MP Bathiudeen remains under the Custody of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for several months now. (NewsWire)
