Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials have informed cricketer Dinesh Chandimal to perform well in the national domestic circuit, including the forthcoming Inter Provincial tournament, in order to be eligible for selection in the limited-over formats in future.
According to The Morning, the message was conveyed during a meeting between Chandimal and the SLC officials which was held early last week.
The meeting was organized after Chandimal had requested for a discussion with the officials to clarify his future cricketing career.
According to reports, the officials had informed him to focus on performing well in the domestic circuit in order to be selected for future One Day International and Twenty-20 matches.
The SLC officials had also informed the former Sri Lanka skipper to be fit and also suit the plans of both the national Head Coach and present Captain Dasun Shanaka to be eligible for selection for national white-ball cricket in the future.
However, Chandimal has been assured he will anyway be considered for selection in the Test format.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to engage in a Test series against Bangladesh later this year. (NewsWire)
